Just a short walk from either the City Council metro station or Li-
uhe Night Market, this good-value choice is the best gateway to the market action, but is
also far enough away not to be disturbed by it. The 49 rooms are all reasonably sized and
bright. The decor won't wow you, but you'll get a good night's sleep.

The rooms provide good bedding and other midrange comforts but it's
the location that really sells this place. It is literally on the beach, and the hotel has its
own private entrance. There are seasonal and midweek discounts.

This hotel
has 158 ultramodern and sleek rooms with enormous beds, inside a completely renovated
building. The dark-hued furniture blends well with the wooden-planked walls and muted
contemporary decor. There's also a beautiful rooftop lounge where you can enjoy break-
fast or sip cocktails.
Eating
There's food everywhere in Kaohsiung, at all times of day or night. Fuguo Rd east of
Bo'ai (near Aozihdi MRT station) is filled with midrange restaurants and has a good
range of Thai, Italian, barbecue and seafood. Kaohsiung arena, north of the city centre, is
another good area.
Locals recommend the food at
Ruifong Night Market

, though there is little space to even move here.
Liuhe Night
wide for its 100-plus food stalls, and you'll see a convoy of tourist buses bringing tour
groups there in the evening.
