water. Park shuttle bus 108 stops here which means you can also bus it here from the
park headquarters without the hike up Qixingshan.
Jinbaoli Trail HIKING
(Yú Lù Gǔdào, Fisherman's Trail) This historic trail follows a former fish trade route from
Shilin to Jinshan. It begins along one of the most enchanting parts of Yangmingshan: the
rolling grass hills of Qingtiangang, a lava plateau and former cattle- grazing area that still
has a population of wild water buffalo.
The trail begins at the Qingtiangang bus stop, reached by shuttle bus 108 from the park
headquarters, or directly from Jiantan MRT on Xiao 15. The trail is 6.6km, takes about
four to five hours and finishes at the Tienlai Hot Springs area ( Click here ) . From here
you can catch an hourly Royal Bus back to the park headquarters (30 minutes) or on to
Jinshan at the coast.
There are plenty of shorter routes in the area to take, including the Qingtiangang Loop
Trail, which is only 2.4km and takes about an hour.
Cycling
The park is a popular spot for local riders. See Click here for one of the best routes.
Birdwatching
With 110 bird species, and easy access to a variety of terrain including grasslands, forest
and ponds, Yangmingshan is one of northern Taiwan's top twitching destinations. For the
casual visitor, be on the lookout for the Formosan blue magpie, an adorable bird with a
striped tail nearly twice its body length. It's the national bird of Taiwan.
