Though part of a worldwide chain
of over 200 restaurants, each Loving Hut is allowed to create its own menu and here in
Taipei you'll find offerings of wontons, dumplings, and various noodle and tofu concoc-
tions. The flower and fruit drinks (NT$75) make a nice dessert. There's a picture menu
available.

A branch of the food
court of a top-end mall, this location on the 2nd floor above the ticket purchase area at
Main Station boasts cafes, restaurants and stalls serving Shanghainese dumplings, beef
noodles (there's an entire sub-section devoted to them), Japanese box sets, ramen, tep-
panyaki, traditional Taiwanese (again its own sub-section), Indian, sandwiches and local
fast food.

With decor last updated during martial law and its somewhat
indifferent service, Xiao Wei could easily be a must-not visit, except for the food, which
is among the best Sichuan in the city. Try their classic kung pao chicken or shrimp, stir-
fried string beans or spare ribs steamed in lotus leaves.

With its rustic-chic setting
inside a former brick warehouse, and perfected stone-oven recipes, this is one of the top
spots for pizza in Taipei. You can sit indoors under a soaring vaulted ceiling, or outdoors
in a garden zone. Calzones, panini and appetisers are available, as is a good selection of
beer on tap. Salads are poor value.
