Force Touch
Apple Watch is the first device to include a flexible Retina display. Unlike the Retina
display found on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, the flexible Retina Display incorporates
extra electrodes around its glass, which can distinguish between a gentle tap or a forceful
press, and then trigger instant access to contextually specific controls and menus. This
method of interaction enables the user to switch to a different watch face or select an
action in the Messages. Here's one example of how force touches can be used in the Music
app:
While playing a track in the music app, you'll see on-screen controls for pausing and
skipping tracks or altering the volume. Tapping these buttons works as you'd expect, but
by force tapping the screen a contextual menu appears that enables you to shuffle music,
repeat a track, change the music source or use AirPlay to play the music on another device.
