Box angle plate
Another type of angle plate is the box angle plate. This is like an open ended
box with slots all round. You can use it like an ordinary angle plate or clamp
work on top of it to raise the work off the table. It will find many other uses in
the workshop.
Milling dovetails
It is possible to mill a long dovetail by clamping the work down to the ma-
chine's table. It may be possible to tilt the machine's head to mill the dovetail
but if this is not possible, you can buy dovetail cutters and inverted dovetail
cutters to do this. Dovetails are normally 45 or 60 degrees. If cutting a dove-
tail on both sides of a workpiece try and machine both sides at the same time
to ensure the sides are parallel to each other. Shorter dovetails can be ma-
chined in the machine vice.
