Using vee blocks to square up work
We touched on this method when we were machining blocks square. You
can drop the workpiece into an upright vee block in the vice to mill the ends
square. You can drop it into two vee blocks to do the same. You can also
mill the ends of a bit of angle by putting it into the vee block and putting a
bit of round bar between the V in the angle and the moving jaw. Finally, you
could machine the ends of a bit of round bar square to the axis while it is held
between two vee blocks or a vee block and a vice jaw as mentioned previ-
ously.
Fig. 6.12 Vee blocks can hold square or round work vertically in the vice.
