to remove the hard skin and clean up the face.
The smaller-diameter inserted tooth cutters are more likely to have an in-
tegral shank, while much bigger face mills normally have a separate shank
with the actual face mill bolted on. Milling cutters (and the separate shanks
for face mills) are available in a wide range of diameters and different lengths.
The eight-edge octagonal shaped inserted tip puts a much lower load onto
the milling machine than some other types of chip.
