Flycutters
Flycutters are useful for all sorts of tasks, although they are most often used
to face large blocks of metal. For steel and most other metals, the flycutter
should be sharpened with a small leading chamfer. However, for plastics, the
flycutter should be sharpened with a leading shallow point. This will slice the
top of the plastic and leave a polished finish rather than a torn finish. Fly-
cutters can also be used with a shaped tool bit to machine various different
shapes on the component being machined.
