4.2.3 CULTIVATION PRACTICES
The replicas of each experimental sets were placed adjacently into five
groups. The sets were amended as per schedule from the very begin-
ning except the control. Initially the seedlings of Callistephus chi-
nensis were about 50 to 55 mm height and planted in each set. The
amendments were applied for 6 times with 12 days of interval starting
from the planting of the species. The irrigation was done as and when
required.
4.2.4 DATA COLLECTION
The soil samples were collected just after planting and after harvesting
of the crop. The samples were subjected to physic-chemical analysis e.g.
organic carbon (OC), pH, and electrical conductivity (EC). The OC con-
tent in the soil (31) and the pH were measured (32). In course of time at
regular 12 days of interval the observations on plant height, number of
leaves developed, size and longevity of the leaves, number of axillary
bad developed, number of flowers appeared, diameter of each flower and
the life span of the flowers were recorded for the comparative growth
analysis.
4.2.5 STATISTICAL ANALYSIS:
The data were plotted in Table 1 to 9 and for comparative growth analysis
the statistical package for social science, version 17.0 (SPSS software)
was used.
4.3 RESULTS
In the present investigation ten parameters were used to study the compara-
tive growth efficiency of vermicompost and chemical fertilizer. The experi-
