In-Depth Information
mental results have been presented in 9 Tables. The growth efficiency of the
vermicompost and chemical fertilizer was compared and discussed below.
The chemical analyses of the soil were done within 15 to 20 days after
planting the plant material into the soil and just after harvesting of the
crop. The status of the OC, pH and EC were measured.
4.3.1 ORGANIC CARBON
The OC content in T3 and T5 sets increased nearly in double. Whereas is
T2 and T4 increased in little bit (Table1). The T5 (vermicompost with full
dose) was more efficient than T3 (vermicompost with half dose) whereas
T4 (chemical fertilizer with full dose) and T2 (chemical fertilizer with half
dose) remained equally active. The results reflected the organic manure
was more efficient to incorporate the more percentage of OC into the soil
than the chemical fertilizer (33,34).
4.3.2 PH
In Table-2, the pH values of different soil samples have been recorded. In
all the cases pH values decreased but signifi cant by decreased in T2 and
T4 sets. The normal pH of the soil ranges from 6.5-7.5. In this respect or-
ganic manure vermicompost are better than the chemical fertilizer for the
sustenance of better soil health status.
4.3.3 ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY
The EC values in Table-3 signifi cantly decreased in T5 and T3 than the T2
and T4 sets. The high value of the EC is deleterious for the sound health
status of the soil and is never recommended for the normal growth and
development of the plants. In this respect, vermicompost treated soil in
T3 and T5 showed better performance for the sustenance of better health
status of the soil.
