This is considered hallowed ground
to Anne fans worldwide. Raised by her grandparents, Lucy Maud lived in this house
from 1876 to 1911 and it is here that she wrote
Anne of Green Gables
. You'll find the
old foundation of the house, many interpretive panels about Lucy Maud, a small on-site
museum and a bookshop.

Delve deeper in-
to Anne fantasy at this theme park where costumed actors portray characters from the
book and perform dramatic moments and scenes from Green Gable chapters. Beyond the
theatrical exploits, the park offers you cow-milking demonstrations, a ride in a horse-
drawn wagon and other period farm activities. Check the website for the day's schedule.
Sleeping & Eating
While accommodations are numerous, remember that this is the busiest and most expens-
ive area you can stay. There are bargains and more bucolic settings east, toward North
Rustico.

on a working dairy farm, 2km east of Cavendish. Ocean views, bathrooms and the pre-
requisite flowered wallpaper and frills abound in this comfortable and roomy tourist
home. Each of the seven cottages, which are available May to mid-October (the B&B is
open year-round), contains a kitchen and a barbecue, as well as a balcony to catch those
dramatic comings and goings of the sun.
