Southwest of town, this 643-acre park has meadows, a marsh and a dog park. Rent bikes
and kayaks or play the disc golf course. The park offers shuttle services downtown ($10).

biscuits at breakfast. Other perks include a prime location in the middle of the historic
district and an oasis-like private courtyard, where guests can enjoy free wine and cheese
by the fountain. Decor gives a nod to the 18th century, and the beds are quite comfy. A
good value.
1837 Bed & Breakfast B&B$$$

) Close to the College of Charleston, this B&B may bring to mind the home of your
eccentric, antique-loving aunt. The 1837 has nine charmingly overdecorated rooms, in-

the best values of Charleston's intimate Historic District inns, its rooms have the dark
and small feel of ship's quarters but they're plenty plush.

oil paintings makes this intimate Historic District hotel feel like an antique sailing ship.

ish pub and the formal portraits of dogs add a sense of fun. Huge guest rooms mix old
and new, with worn leather couches, high ceilings and flatscreen TVs. Complimentary
