In-Depth Information
The Williamsburg Hotel & Motel Association ( 800-446-9244; www.gowilliamsburg.com )
at the visitor center will help find and book accommodations at no cost. If you stay in
Colonial Williamsburg, guesthouses can provide discount admission tickets (adult/child
$30/15).
Governor's Inn HOTEL$
( 757-253-2277; www.colonialwilliamsburgresorts.com ; 506 N Henry St; r $70-120; )
Williamsburg's official 'economy' choice is a big box by any other name, but rooms are
clean, and guests can use the pool and facilities of the Woodlands Hotel. It's in a great
location three blocks from the historic district.
Williamsburg White House B&B$$$
( 757-229-8580; www.awilliamsburgwhitehouse.com ; 718 Jamestown Rd; r $160-200, ste $375;
) This romantic, beautifully furnished B&B decorated with red, white and blue
bunting is located across the campus of William & Mary, just a few blocks' walk from
Colonial Williamsburg. It's a favorite spot of visiting politicos and bigwigs, but the at-
mosphere and amicable management exudes more stateliness than stuffiness. The two-
room FDR suite can accommodate up to four guests.
Colonial Williamsburg Historic Lodging GUESTHOUSE$$$
$$$
( 757-253-2277; www.history.org ; r $150-270) For true 18th-century immersion, guests can
stay in one of 26 original Colonial houses inside the historic district. Accommodations
range in size and style, though the best have period furnishings, canopy beds and wood-
burning fireplaces.
Williamsburg Inn INN$$$
$$$
( 757-253-2277; www.colonialwilliamsburg.com ; 136 E Francis St; r from $320; )
Queen Elizabeth II has stayed here twice, so you know this place is palatial. Williams-
burg's premier property has a not-so-colonial price tag, but the pampering is nonstop at
this prestigious resort.
Eating
