splurge, there's no better place in the historic triangle. Top-notch service, excellent wines
and heavenly desserts are only slightly upstaged by the magnificent seasonal cuisine (re-
cent favorites: pan-seared sea scallops with oyster pork belly; wild rice stuffed quail; and
seared foie gras and hazelnut toast).
Getting There & Around
Williamsburg Transportation Center ( 757-229-8750; cnr Boundary & Lafayette Sts)
Amtrak ( www.amtrak.com ) trains run from here twice a day to Washington, DC ($43,
four hours), Richmond ($33, 50 minutes) and New York ($84 to $152, eight hours).
Greyhound buses run to Richmond ($18, one hour) five times daily. Buses to other des-
tinations require a transfer in Richmond.
Triangle Theme Parks
Three miles east of Williamsburg on Hwy 60, Busch Gardens ( 800-343-7946;
www.buschgardens.com ; adult/child $70/60; Apr-Oct; ) is a European-themed park with
some of the best roller coasters on the East Coast. Just down the road, off Hwy 199 east
of Williamsburg, Water Country USA ( 800-343-7946; www.watercountryusa.com ; adult/
child $49/42; May-Sep; ) is a kids' paradise, with twisty slides, raging rapids and
wave pools. A three-day combo ticket for both parks costs $75. Parking costs $13 at both
places.
