In-Depth Information
El Chucho MEXICAN$
( 202-290-3313; 3313 11th St NW; tacos $6-12; 4pm-2am, to 3am Fri & Sat) There's a Day
of the Dead -inspired interior, margaritas on tap, excellent elote ( corn ) smothered in
white cheese and spices, and fresh guacamole. The tiny tacos leave us wanting more.
Lots of cool tattooed staff members, and customers who love them.
Drinking & Nightlife

price (no phone sales).
Capitol Hill & Downtown
Little Miss Whiskey's Golden Dollar BAR
( www.littlemisswhiskeys.com ; 1104 H St NE; from 5pm; H Street shuttle) If Alice had got
back from Wonderland so traumatized by a near-beheading that she needed to start enga-
ging in heavy drinking, we imagine she'd often pop down to Little Miss Whiskey's.
She'd love the decor: somewhere between whimsical and the dark nightmares of a lost
drug addict. And she'd probably have fun with the club kids partying on the upstairs
dance floor on weekends.
H Street Country Club BAR
( www.thehstreetcountryclub.com ; 1335 H St NE; from 5pm Mon-Thu, from 4pm Fri-Sun; H
Street shuttle) The Country Club is two levels of great. The bottom floor is packed with
pool tables, skeeball and shuffleboard, while the top contains (seriously) its own mini-
golf course ($7 to play) done up to resemble a tour of the city on a small scale.
18th Amendment BAR
( www.18thdc.com ; 613 Pennsylvania Ave SE; Eastern Market, Capitol South) The Amendment
embraces a speakeasy theme - hence the name. Gangsters and bootleggers should head
directly to the basement, where the furniture is made from beer barrels and whiskey
crates, and there are pool tables on which to fight your duel.
