If you bring a car to DC, plan on $20 upwards per day for in-and-out privileges (or
stay in Arlington or Alexandria, where some hotels have free parking). Keep in mind that
accommodations prices in DC get hit with a hefty 14.5% hotel tax on top of room rates.

The Liason has jazzed up the accommodation options in Capitol Hill. Modernist
rooms come in a stately slate-and-earth-tones color palette, which creates a feeling that's
the right mix of corporate business and playful fun times. That said, the rooftop is all
about the latter; there's trippy house music and a rooftop pool that seems perpetually oc-
cupied by attractive folks. It's within spitting distance of the Capitol.

George was the first DC hotel to take the term 'boutique' to a daring, ultramodern
level. The stylish interior is framed by clean lines, chrome-and-glass furniture and mod-
ern art. Rooms exude a cool creamy-white Zen. The pop-art presidential accents (paint-
ings of American currency, artfully rearranged and diced up) are a little overdone, but
that's a minor complaint about what is otherwise the hippest lodging on the Hill.
