Katama Beach BEACH
(Katama Rd) The Vineyard's best beach lies 4 miles south of Edgartown center. Also
called South Beach, Katama stretches for three magnificent miles. Rugged surf will
please surfers on the ocean side. Some swimmers prefer the protected salt ponds on the
inland side.

The best bargain in town, with 20 straightforward rooms spread across three adjacent
buildings. The oldest dates to 1798 and claims Nathaniel Hawthorne and Daniel Webster
among its earliest guests! Ask about last-minute specials; you might score a discount if
things are slow.

crowd on the garden patio for homemade soups, waffles, sandwiches, crepes and even
lobster rolls. Although everything's served on paper or plastic, it's still kinda chichi. In
July and August, they cafe adds on dinner as well and kicks it up a notch.

legendary Hot Tin Roof, Flatbread continues the tradition, staging the best bands on the
island. And it makes damn good organic pizzas too. It's adjacent to Martha's Vineyard
Airport.
