In-Depth Information
Brewster
Woodsy Brewster, on the Cape's bay side, makes a good base for outdoorsy types. The
Cape Cod Rail Trail cuts clear across town and there are excellent options for camping,
hiking and water activities.
DON'T MISS
CYCLING THE RAIL TRAIL
A poster child for the rails-to-trail movement, the Cape Cod Rail Trail follows a former
railroad track for 22 glorious miles past cranberry bogs and along sandy ponds ideal
for a dip. It's one of the finest cycling trails in all New England. There's a hefty dose
of Olde Cape Cod scenery en route and you can detour into quiet villages for lunch
or sightseeing. The path begins in Dennis on MA 134 and continues all the way to
Wellfleet. If you have time to do only part of the trail, begin at Nickerson State Park
in Brewster and head for the Cape Cod National Seashore in Eastham. Bicycle rent-
als are available at the trailhead in Dennis, at Nickerson State Park and opposite the
National Seashore's Salt Pond Visitor Center ( Click here ) .
