NFTA (Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority; www.nfta.com ) bus 40 and express bus 60
connect downtown Buffalo and Niagara Falls ($2, one hour). The stop in Niagara Falls is
at First and Rainbow Blvd (there's no reason to go to the terminal at Main and Pine Sts).
Taxis run around $75. The Amtrak train station (27th St, at Lockport Rd) is about 2 miles
northeast of downtown. From Niagara Falls, daily trains go to Buffalo (35 minutes),
Toronto (three hours) and New York City (nine hours); fares vary depending on time and
day. Greyhound ( www.greyhound.com ; 303 Rainbow Blvd) buses are run out of the Daredevil
Museum.
Parking costs $8 to $10 a day on either side of the falls. Most of the midrange hotels
offer complimentary parking to guests, while upscale hotels (on the Canadian side) tend
to charge $15 to $20 a day for the privilege.
Crossing the Rainbow Bridge to Canada and returning costs US$3.25/1 per car/pedes-
trian. There are customs and immigration stations at each end - US citizens and overseas
visitors are required to have their passport or an enhanced driver's license. Driving a
rental car from the US over the border should not be a problem, but check with your rent-
al company before you depart.
