Cleveland Botanical Garden GARDENS

noon-5pm Sun, noon-9pm Wed) It has a Costa Rican cloud forest and Madagascan desert ex-
hibits. An ice-skating rink opens nearby in winter; skate rentals cost $3. Parking costs $5
to $10 per day and gives access to all the museums here.
Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland MUSEUM
(MOCA; audio tours 216-453-3960; www.mocacleveland.org ; 11400 Euclid Ave; adult/child $8/5;
11am-5pm Tue-Sun, to 9pm Thu) The shiny new building impresses, with four stories of
geometric black steel, though there's not a lot to see inside. Floors 2 and 4 have the gal-
leries; exhibits focus on an artist or two and change often. Call for an audio tour of the
architecture and installations.
Lakeview Cemetery CEMETERY

the circle further east, don't forget this eclectic 'outdoor museum' where President Gar-
field and John Rockefeller rest, or, more intriguingly, local comic-book hero Harvey
Pekar and crime-fighter Eliot Ness.

Prices listed here are for summer, which is high season, and do not include the 16.25%
tax. Modest motels are southwest of Cleveland's center, near the airport. The W 150th
exit off I-71 (exit 240) has several options for less than $100.
Cleveland Hostel HOSTEL$

hostel in Ohio City, steps from an RTA stop and the West Side Market, is fantastic. There
are 15 rooms, a mix of dorms and private chambers. All have fluffy beds, fresh paint in
soothing hues and nifty antique decor. Add in the rooftop deck, free parking lot and
cheap bike rentals (per day $15), and no wonder it's packed.
