Figure 13.5a shows the resultant shear stress distribution at the limb-liner interface when 800 N
was applied with pre-stress considered. The resultant shear stress is a combination of longitudinal
and circumferential components of shear stresses in the plane of the contact interface. High resul-
tant shear stresses were predicted at the four critical regions where socket undercuts were made. The
maximum value was 77 kPa over the anteromedial tibial region.
