The Old Jameson Distillery. Photo by Neil Turner
Add more information to your knowledge bank by visiting an Irish whiskey distillery now
serving as a tourist attraction. This is the original site, where the famous Jameson Irish
Whiskey was distilled until 1971. Set in the heart of Dublin, a visit to this distillery will
be a very engaging experience as visitors are taken on guided tours explaining the history
of Jameson Irish Whiskey, the different stages of whiskey making, and a video of what the
distillery was like when the founder, John Jameson, was still alive. Part of the tour will be a
tutored whiskey tasting and feel free to unwind at the bar, restaurant or pick up something
for your envious friends at the gift shop.
The distillery is laid out over two floors and sits above the original fermentation vats which
can now be seen through the glass door in the atrium.
