To split a body, you must have a splitting tool such as planes, sketch elements, surface, or
bodies. In this case, a surface can be used as splitting tool. Activate the
Split Body
com-
mand (click
Home > Feature > More > Trim > Split Body
on the ribbon) and select the
solid body from the graphics window. On the
Split Body
dialog, select
Tool > Tool Option
> Extrude
and click
Select Curve
. Click on the curved edge to define the section curve.
As you click
OK
, an extruded surface will be created and eventually the body will be split
into two separate bodies.
Now, create the shell feature on the split body.
