Multi-body Parts
NX allows the use of multiple bodies when designing parts. This opens the door to several
design techniques that would otherwise not be possible. In this section, you will learn some
of these techniques.
Creating Multibodies
The number of bodies in a part can change throughout the design process. NX makes it easy
to create separate single bodies and multiple bodies, and combine multiple bodies into single
bodies. In order to create multiple bodies in a part, first create a solid body, and then create
any sketch-based feature such as extruded, revolved, or swept feature. While creating the
feature, ensure that you set the Boolean type to None .
Split Body
The Split Body command can be used to separate single bodies into multiple bodies. This
command can be used to perform local operations. For example, if you apply the shell fea-
ture to the front portion of the model shown in figure, the whole model will be shelled. To
solve this problem, you must split the solid body into multiple bodies.
