In-Depth Information
Lumbini, a small village near the Indian border, is one of Nepal's most
famous locations. Widely believed to be the birthplace of Buddha,
Lumbini has become a sacred site to Buddhists all over the world.
Buddhism. Hinduism also took root in Nepal long before the
dawn of the Christian era. In addition, Christianity and Islam
are widely practiced faiths. Thus, Nepal has great religious
diversity. Nepalese respect all religions, and the country has
never experienced a religious conflict. A caste system is a deeply
entrenched trait of Nepalese culture. Each family in Nepalese
society is a member (by birth) of a certain caste, and everyone
has to abide by the rules of one's own caste. (The caste system
