In-Depth Information
Pick a 'learning wall' to start off with, for example the garage or toilet, where a perfect fin-
ish might be less important. Before you start mixing, make sure your wall and immediate
area are prepared for plastering:
Remove any debris or clutter from the floor in the vicinity around the wall, to make
sure you have room to work.
Make sure there are no raised areas of hempcrete, such as where it has stuck out
through a join in the shuttering, or at the corners of the wall or where it butts up to ex-
posed timbers. If there are, cut or scratch them back flat to the wall with a multi-tool or
nail float.
Likewise, make sure that any repairs (filling in) to the hempcrete are flush with the
wall; if not, cut or scratch them back flat.
Wet the wall down with clean water using the pressure sprayer (see box on page 242 ) .
'Knocking up' a manageable amount of plaster on the
hawk (by pushing it back and forth with a trowel until it
forms a single consistent lump).
