3. Factor Analysis of CO 2 Emission Intensity
The change in intensity of CO 2 emissions can be divided into two factors, the
energy structure and the energy consumption change. Table 1.7 displays that
from 1990 to 2009, the intensity fell by 53.01 %; 97.6 % of the decrease is from
the energy intensity change, only 2.4 % from the change of energy structure. It is
safe to conclude that, in the past 30 years, the changes in CO 2 emission intensity
mainly results from changes in energy intensity, not from changes in the energy
structure.
