facilities such as user management and accounting of grid resource
usage.
2. Grid development toolkits: These toolkits provide a toolkit to pack
the resource to grid services, the deployment and management
toolkit for grid, and programming model to deploy complex grid
application in grid environment.
3. Information center: This is responsible for the management of
various resources within the grid environment, provides a global
resource view and grid information services, and updates grid
resource information in a real-time manner. The main purpose is
to provide real-time information of various grid resources for end
users and other modules in the grid environment.
4. Grid management: This provides basic support for various jobs in
the grid environment. It consists of the following i ve parts:
Service container: Provides a grid service installation, deploy-
ment, running, and monitoring environment on each node in
grid environment. It also provides necessary support to moni-
tor the real-time resources status of each grid node.
Data manager: Responsible for the management of various
storage resources and data i les in the grid environment. It pro-
vides a global i le view, so that users can access various data
i les transparent.
Heterogeneous database: Based on OGSA-DAI [16,17],
CGSPHDB (CGSP Heterogeneous Database) provides uniform
access to heterogeneous databases, which enables CGSP users
to obtain more data services provided by different kinds of
data sources.
Execution management: The most complicated and most
kernel module of CGSP. Based on the information center, data
management, and CGSPHDB, it provides support for job man-
agement, scheduling, and monitoring for end users' computa-
tional task, so that data and resources can be accessed
transparently within grid and cooperative working among
distributed resources.
Domain manager: The ChinaGrid is organized into a domain.
A domain refers to an independent grid system to provide ser-
vices to the others. A domain can be a specialized grid or a
regional grid. The domain manager is mainly responsible for
user management, logging, accounting within domain, and
interacting with other domains. It allows the domain adminis-
trator to easily manage the users, services, and resources within
the domain, and interactive policies among domains.
