5. Programming interface: CGSP2 aims to provide a powerful
programming interface to develop applications in a grid environ-
ment. CGSP2 provides an MPI-like programming interface and a
bunch of grid services, such as service publishing and querying
services, resource monitoring services, and data transferring ser-
vices, to help developers to deliver distributed, high-performance,
large-scale applications.

Building Blocks
The detail software building blocks for CGSP are shown in Figure 4.2.
There are i ve building blocks in CGSP 2.0 as follows:
1. Grid portal: The grid portal is the entrance for the end user to use
grid services. By using the grid portal, users can submit their jobs,
monitor the running of jobs, manage and transfer data, query the
grid resource information. The grid portal also provides other
