This intimate little venue hosts regular jazz, classical and
acoustic sessions, as well as occasional comedy shows and
poetry readings. Pricey Japanese food (set menu RM98)

with mismatched furniture and colourful wall designs has
a lively atmosphere and is a great place for pre- or post-

Pisco Bar 29 Jln Mesui; map p.427. As the name suggests,
pisco sours (RM26) are the drink of choice at this popular
bar with exposed brick walls, wooden planks lining the
ceiling and upside-down buckets serving as bar lamps.

modern European food with an Asian touch to complement

Alexis 29 Jln Telawi 3. This smart coffee shop serves
wonderful cakes (RM13), as well as mains (RM24), in an
upmarket setting. Mon-Thurs 10am-1am, Fri & Sat
8am-2am, Sun 8am-1am.
Bangsar Fish Head Corner Lorong Ara Kiri 3. Malays of
all backgrounds stand in line at this hugely popular street-
food joint serving great fish head curry, fried fish, and
chicken and beansprouts. A meal will set you back RM25-
30. Mon-Sat 7am-7pm.
Devi's Corner Jln Telawi 2 at Jln Telawi 4. This laidback
bustling place attracts scores of locals and expats who
flock here to feast on all manner of bargain south Indian
dishes including great thosai (RM1.70). Daily 24hr.
La Bodega 16 Jln Telawi 2. The Catalan chef at one of
Bangsar's most sought-after restaurants rustles up some
great tapas (RM10-28) and paella (RM35). Daily 8am-
midnight.
Sri Nirwana 43 Jln Telawi 3. A popular local hangout
serving excellent banana-leaf meals for just RM8. Daily
10am-2am.
Yeast 24G Jln Telawi 2. This pleasant restaurant-bakery
offers a selection of cakes and pastries (RM4-13), as well
as light mains (RM20-32). There's 30 percent off takeaway
breads and pastries daily between 5-7pm. Sun-Thurs
8am-10pm, Fri & Sat 8am-10.30pm.
FURTHER AFIELD
MILK 18 Jln Liku, Bangsar; map pp.422-423. Swanky
offshoot of the popular Mist Club , featuring hip-hop, R&B
and cutting-edge DJs. Their MILKshake really does bring all
the boys (and girls) to the yard. Mon-Sat 9pm-3am.
Zouk 113 Jln Ampang; map pp.422-423. A complete
clubbing complex to suit all tastes, this is also the biggest
nightclub in Malaysia. The KL branch of this Singapore-
based megaclub comprises a two-level beach-themed
venue, divided into seven sections, featuring such genres
as trance, hip-hop, R&B and pop. Entry RM20-50. Tues-
Sun 10pm-5am.
NIGHTLIFE AND ENTERTAINMENT
Most bars are open from noon until midnight. The music
played at clubs ranges from house and techno to hip-hop and
R&B. Entrance charges are around RM25 including a drink.
