you're feeling homesick, this German-run bakery is the

Jasmine Kitchen Just off Jl Bina Ria. Outstanding
restaurant serving fabulous Thai food - from zingy soups
to delicately spiced curries - as well as home-made cakes
and desserts, plus great coffee. Mains Rp44,000-77,000.

Le Madre Jl Mawar. Little terrace restaurant offering
good-value (if rather small) thin-crust pizzas (Rp35,000-
65,000) and tasty focaccia (Rp35,000-40,000; try the one
with aubergine, mozzarella, tomato and basil), plus pasta
and Indonesian dishes. Daily 10am-9/10pm.
Papagello Jl Bina Ria. A huge choice of wood-fired pizza
(Rp40,000-85,000) in a three-storey building with book-
swap shelves along the walls. The open-air third floor is
best for looking out over Lovina with a beer. Daily
7am-10.30/11pm.
Sea Breeze On the beach, just off Jl Bina Ria. A great
beachside spot for sunset drinks, with an excellent menu
of Western, Indonesian and seafood dishes (mains from
Rp30,000), plus good cakes and desserts. Acoustic music
regularly accompanies the setting sun. Daily 8am-9pm.
Warung Ayu Jl Mawar. One of several budget warungs
at the beach end of this strip, with great pepes ikan (fish
cooked in banana leaf with spices and coconut) for just
Rp20,000. Try the Indonesian platter for two to sample a
few of their best dishes. Daily 11am-9pm.

The brown floor tiles, nylon curtains and leatherette chairs
do little for the look of the basic bungalows here, but they
are spacious and clean, an d there's a large pool shaded by

A popular budget gem with just five simple and
immaculately clea n rooms, all with fans and en-suite cold-

dation in a two-storey block, with Balin ese-style wo oden

EATING
Lovina has some excellent places to eat. Restaurants are
concentrated in Kalibukbuk; in the other areas, guest-
houses offer meals. Opening hours vary depending on the
season, but most cafés and warungs serve food from about
10/11am-9pm in the high season (at other times, many
places operate restricted hours).
BANYUALIT
Warung Bias Jl Laviana. Large range of delicious
international food, including schnitzel and Indian curries
(mains around Rp50,000), as well as good sandwiches and
cakes. Happy hour 6-8pm. Daily 11am-10.30pm.
DRINKING AND NIGHTLIFE
Kantin 21 Bar and Restaurant Main road, Kalibukbuk.
A popular late-night spot, with live music every night and
jugs of cocktails (from Rp80,000) to get everyone in the
mood. Daily 1pm-late.
Poco Bar Evolution Jl Bina Ria, Kalibukbuk. Popular spot
with live music every night (cocktails from Rp45,000).

Akar Jl Bina Ria. A charming organic café with just
a handful tables serving the finest ice cream (from
