First aid
It's the big disasters we worry about, from breaking
a leg to getting struck by lightning. But in reality it's
the small mishaps that most often bother us, from
scratches and sprains, to rashes and sunburn. See
the next page for some of the most common
camping ailments, and what to do about them.
You should really aim to be self-sufficient for most
kinds of problems, and have a first-aid kit that
allows you to be so. If you're backpacking, then
medical attention for more serious injuries isn't
readily available. Further research into wilderness
medicine is highly recommended.
Invest in a properly
equipped first-aid kit to
help you deal with the
most common accidents.
