Welsh-born owner, Ann Smith.
The guesthouse was built in 1938 by a doctor and his French wife, who requested
that some of the architectural features follow French designs. Doric columns, corner
mullions, and urn-shaped balustrades flank the entrance portico. Inside, spacious,
well-furnished guest rooms have high ceilings and dressing areas. At least half of
them were recently renovated. There's also a sunny upstairs sitting room. Breakfast
might include a fresh fruit salad made with oranges and grapefruit grown in the yard.

SOUTHAMPTON PARISH
Greene's Guest House From the outside, this 70-year-old guesthouse overlook-
ing Great Sound is well maintained, cheerful, and unpretentious. A look on the inside
reveals pleasant, conservatively furnished rooms that are more impressive than you
might have guessed. A pair of lions on stone columns flanks the entry. Owner Jane
Greene welcomes guests to use the spacious, well-furnished living room and the sun-
washed terraces in back. Bedrooms are small to medium-size, each comfortably fur-
nished with a tidily kept compact private bathroom.
There's a swimming pool in the back garden, and Whale Bay Beach lies 3 minutes
away by bus or 10 minutes by foot. Facing the sea is a cozy lounge where guests
record their drinks on the honor system. The bus to and from the City of Hamilton
stops in front of the house.

WARWICK PARISH
Clairfont Apartments It's not on a beachfront but there are other reasons to
recommend this well-run series of accommodations on the South Shore, and price is
one of them. Guests meet fellow guests as they relax around the pool. You have a
choice of studio units, a large room with a king-size bed and separate kitchen and
living area, or else a 1-bedroom unit with a better-equipped kitchen and more space
with a king-size bed that can be split into twins. Two extra guests can sleep in the
living area. This is basically a recommendation for self-service types. The location is
a 5-minute walk from pink-sand beaches and just a 3-minute walk to public
transportation.

Granaway Guest House & Cottage Granaway is a cliché of pink-walled,
white-roofed Bermudian charm, with guest rooms and a garden cottage. The property
opens onto views of Great Sound.
Once a stately waterfront home, the old cedar beams of the original house are still
maintained, although modern conveniences have been added. The bedrooms are
handsomely furnished and comfortable, each with a small private bathroom. Four of
