A restored Art Deco building, the Corvin sits in the middle of a square flanked by Regency-
like houses. Note the two wonderful reliefs outside the main entrance to the cinema and the
monument to the
Pesti srácok,
the heroic 'kids from Pest' who fought and died in the neigh-
bourhood during the 1956 Uprising. Heart-wrenching stuff.

This uber-chilled cafe and restaurant, at the southern end of Ráday utca, turns into a great
venue at night, focusing mainly on jazz. Gigs are at 9pm on Monday and Wednesday, and
additionally on Saturday during winter. There's an eclectic, changing menu - from breakfast
and grilled meats to salads and cake.

Hosting a fantastic line-up of mainly Hungarian jazz and classical performances, the re-
cently opened Budapest Music Center comprises a classy 350-capacity concert hall, the
Opus Jazz Club and restaurant, and a library and recording studios. Head here on Wednes-
day, when there are free concerts.

The oldest blues venue in town, NBB has been wailing for over two decades now and the
Jim Morrison and Blues Brothers paintings let you know that. Almost every night from
November to April you'll find someone strumming downstairs.

FLÓRIÁN ALBERT STADIUM
No other club has dominated Budapest football over the years like Ferencváros Torna Club
(FTC), the country's loudest, brashest and most popular team. You either love the Fradi
boys in green and white or you hate 'em. Watch them play at the recently rebuilt Flórián Al-
bert Stadium opposite Népliget bus station, with space for 22,600 raucous spectators.
