In-Depth Information
Centrally located 'Little Bell' is an
étkezde
(canteen serving simple Hungarian dishes) that's
top of the list with students and staff of the nearby Central European University. The daily
specials are something to look forward to and the retro decor is fun.
Főzelék
(480Ft to
650Ft), the traditional Hungarian way of preparing vegetables, is always a good bet here.
The daily menu is 950Ft.
INTERNATIONAL
CULINARIS
8am-3pm Mon-Sat, 10am-3pm Sun; 2)
Is it a restaurant? A cafe? A gourmet food shop? Apparently all three and we love it for its
welcoming colours and chaotic selection (Madras-style chicken, Moroccan lamb pita, duck
quesadilla etc) but not its bankers' hours. Still, the store stays open till 8pm (6pm on
Sunday), so self-catering is an option.
NOODLES
MOMOTARO METÉLT
dumplings 600-1800Ft, mains 1860-4750Ft; 11am-10.30pm Tue-Sun; ; 15, 2)
This is a favourite pit stop for noodles - especially the soup variety - and dumplings when
pálinka
(fruit brandy), Unicum and other lubricants have been a-flowin' the night before. It's
also good for more substantial dishes.
ITALIAN
GASTRONOMIA POMO D'ORO

Next door to a much more extravagant
trattoria
bearing the same name, this Italian
delicatessen-caterer has a little dining area on the 1st floor where you can choose from a
small selection of dishes or sample cheese and prepared meats by the 100g measure (480Ft
to 1800Ft). Sandwiches are 1490Ft to 1940Ft.
HUNGARIAN
PICK HÁZ
