1-214 3144;
www.lanchidsorozo.hu
; I Fő utca 4;
10am-
midnight; 16, 86, 19, 41)
As its name implies, this pub near the Chain Bridge head has a wonderful retro Magyar feel
to it, with old movie posters and advertisements on the walls and red-checked cloths on the
tables. Friendly service.
CAFE
BAMBI PRESSZÓ
7am-10pm Mon-Fri, 9am-10pm Sat & Sun; 86)
The words 'Bambi' and 'modern' do not make comfortable bedfellows; nothing about this
place (named after a Communist-era local soft drink) has changed since the 1960s. And
that's just the way the crowd here likes it. Friendly though set-it-down-with-a-crash service
completes the picture.
CAFE
AUGUSZT CUKRÁSZDA
10am-6pm Mon-Fri, from 10am Sat; M2 Széll Kálmán tér)
Tucked away behind the Fény utca market and Mammut shopping mall complex, this is the
original Auguszt (there are two newer branches in Pest) and only sells its own shop-made
cakes, pastries and biscuits. Seating is on the 1st floor.
WINE BAR
SPICCPROJECT
11.30am-1am Tue-Fri, 5pm-1am Sat; 16, 105, 178, 18)
Essentially a wine bar, this place also does food, usually lighter things and one-plate spe-
cials like duck rillettes (580Ft) and fish and chips (2480Ft).
