Set in the former studio and
hôtel particulier
of painter Henri Gervex (1852-1929), this new
hostel near the Champs Élysées has 24 spacious rooms, sleeping two to 10 people each.
Bathrooms are shared. Unlike more recent additions to the Paris hostel scene, the BVJ has
retained a period feel, with original moulding, a secluded courtyard and parquet floors
throughout.
Breakfast and sheets are included, though you do need to make your own bed. Wi-fi is on
the ground floor only.

This 2010 hostel has several things going for it, the first of which is its central Montmartre
location. The four- to six-person rooms all have their own showers, there's a kitchen, free
breakfast and the staff are even friendly (a rarity among Parisian hostels). One drawback is
that communal areas are small. No curfew at night.

Overlooking the railway tracks behind the Gare de l'Est is this snazzy new solar-powered
hostel. The spacious ground-floor area houses a cafe and communal area; rooms sleep one
to six people. On the down side, it can be a hike to get anywhere else in the city, and wi-fi is
only in the reception area. Breakfast included.

This hostel is just down the hill from place Pigalle in a quiet residential quarter. Dorm beds
are bunks in rooms sleeping four to six people. Each room has washbasin only; showers and
toilets are off the corridor. The eat-in kitchen, down the steps from the patio, has everything.
Curfew is 2am.
