The Moulin Rouge ('red windmill') might be more famous but at the opposite end of town,
the 19th-century 'green windmill' is a delightful, relaxed neighbourhood restaurant opening
to a glass-paned winter garden and sunlit terrace. Chef Gérard Chagot's seasonal creations
like duck in cherries, cod in cider and snails in garlic are served by aproned waiters at
white-clothed tables.

With winecorks in the window, this intimate place may be casual (no dress code) and afford-
able but it takes its food seriously. The superb menu spans starters like fish velouté or pig's
head with mesclun to mains such as wild sea bream with semolina or free-range chicken
with foie gras, and desserts like poached rhubarb with almond sorbet.

stylised menu, which fuses traditional French with world food such as rabbit tajine with
dates, oranges and almonds, creamy tomato, prawn and ginger risotto, or squid pan-fried
with Espelette peppers.
