This is the legendary club where Charlie Chaplin, WC Fields and Stan Laurel appeared on
stage together one night in 1911, and where Josephine Baker - accompanied by her
diamond-collared pet cheetah and wearing only stilettos and a skirt made from bananas -
bewitched audience members including Hemingway. Today, shows span solo acts such as
Ben Harper to musicals.

An institution since 1958, Publicis incorporates cinemas and late-opening shops including
an épicerie (specialist grocer) , pharmacy, beauty counter, international newsagent, cave
(wine cellar) and cigar bar. At street level there's a glassed-in brasserie and steakhouse, but
its newest and chicest dining space is downstairs at the glossy black and red Étoile branch of
L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon .
