dishes. Tucanaré and pirarucu are among the popular fish dishes eaten here. Tucupi (cassava) soup, with a manioc

One of the larger and better known restaurants, O Larajinha has a great bar, and presents interesting musical shows
on its outdoor stage. The atmosphere is lively with lots of music and dancing. The food is fine, and the service great,

A very pleasant Italian restaurant in the Lord Manaus hotel (see p383) , this serves a good range of pasta and
spaghetti dishes with meat, vegetables, or fish. Salads combine Italian and Amazon ingredients, and include such
dishes as freshly grated palmito (heart of palm). The wine is good and the service excellent.

As well as being one of the more upmarket places in town, Caravelo do Madeira is known as the very best of all
the many good fish restaurants in Porto Velho. Specializing in river fish, the restaurant offers dishes such as grilled
piranha, as well as a variety of fish dishes served in a creamy Brazil nut sauce. Service is good.
