Sponsor duties include:
1. To review project plans and assess relevancy to corporate informa-
tion needs. The sponsor must inform management about the scope
and effect of the project and its impact on the organization.
2. To serve as an advocate for the project. This advocacy role is not fin-
ished with the successful implementation of a data set or application;
it continues through evaluation and support of required future devel-
opments related to changing information needs due to technological
advancements.
3. To collaborate in setting goals and priorities.
4. To ensure that staffing, funds, and other resources are available, in
addition to making sure that the appropriate data management roles
are assigned and fulfilled.
5. To review the project's progress and use of resources.
