nightclub, then the lights went out in the '90s. Now the handsome 1920s building has been
resuscitated as a high-concept jewel that wraps all that's great about Berlin - history, innov-
ation, joie de vivre - into one attractive package. Rooms are stylishly minimalist. Optional

On a leafy side street, the stylish Bleibtreu was a pioneer in sustainable lodging at its 1995
opening. The uncluttered rooms won't fit a ton of luggage, but feature untreated oak fur-
niture, walls daubed in organic paint and a clever lighting system. New: Dudu 31, the
second branch of the Asian crossover restaurant (and celebrity haunt) on Mitte's Torstrasse.
