K17
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;

Thu-Sat;
Frankfurter Allee, Frankfurter Allee)
K17 used to be the go-to club for all things Goth, industrial, metal and other dark music. Al-
though bands like Icon of Coil, Debauchery and Whipstriker still hit the stage, softer sounds
have made inroads as well, especially on weekend party nights when there's four floors
feeding different musical appetites, from electropop and NuWave to hip-hop.
MARKETS GALORE
If you're into marketeering, Sundays are a great time to swing by Friedrichshain.
Antikmarkt am Ostbahnhof ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.oldthing.de ; Erich-Steinfurth-Strasse;
9am-5pm Sun; Ostbahnhof) If it's genuine antiques you're after, head straight to this
sprawling market which starts right outside the Ostbahnhof station's north exit. The
'Grosser Antikmarkt' (large antiques market) is more professional and brims with
genuine collectibles - old coins, Iron Curtain-era relics, gramophone records, books,
stamps, jewellery etc. It segues neatly into the 'Kleiner Antikmarkt' (small antiques
market), which has more bric-a-brac and lower prices.
Flohmarkt am Boxhagener Platz ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; Boxhagener Platz; 10am-6pm
Sun; Warschauer Strasse, Frankfurter Tor, Warschauer Strasse) The most popular market gets
some pros along with regular folks unloading their spring-cleaning detritus for cheap.
Best of all, stalls are just a java whiff away from Sunday brunch cafes.
RAW Flohmarkt ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.raw-flohmarkt-berlin.de ; Revaler Strasse 99, RAW
Gelände; 9am-7pm Sun; Warschauer Strasse, Warschauer Strasse) The smallest of the
bunch takes over the grounds of the RAW Gelände creative colony. It's wonderfully
free of professional sellers, meaning you'll find everything from the proverbial kitchen
sink to 1970s go-go boots. Bargains are plentiful.
SHOPPING
Friedrichshain has come along in the shopping department, with increasingly
chic indie clothing boutiques and speciality stores sprinkled around Boxha-
gener Platz, Sonntagstrasse and its side streets near Ostkreuz.
