Hannover has several museums spanning 6,000 years of history, including the
Sprengel Museum (Modern Art), Kestner Museum (Egyptology, Greece, Middle
Ages), Hannover Museum of History (local social history), and the Busch Mu-
seum in the Georgengarten, a natural park developed in the 18th century. In
sharp contrast to the baroque world of the Herrenhausen Garden, the Geor-
gengarten is a mature example of English landscape gardening.
Many of Hannover's residents believe that a day in their city should have 48
hours. The refurbished city center alone—an ambler's paradise (reserved entirely
for pedestrians) with shops, cascading fountains, and cafes—can captivate you.
With the frequent train service between Hamburg and Hannover, you can easily
extend your stay into evening.
