Hannover's Zoo is less than five minutes from the central station by U-Bahn Line
6 or by bus No. 128 from the central station. With the Gorilla Mountain, Jungle
Palace, Zoo Farm, and the Zambezi Savannah landscape, the Hannover Zoo has
become one of the most attractive in Germany.
The Great Herrenhausen Garden and Garden Theater is one of Europe's
greatest tourist attractions. In its 300-year-old landscaping, you will find the only
example in Germany of early Baroque gardens that have survived in their original
form. Herrenhausen Avenue, facing the gardens, is lined with 1,219 lime trees set
in four rows; they link Hannover's inner city with the gardens of the former summer
residence of the Royal House of Hannover in Herrenhausen. Many sections of the
garden have remained unaltered through the centuries.
A highlight of the gardens is the unique Regenwaldhaus (Rainforest House).
