Hippocampus
The hippocampus is a Greek word for Neptune's seahorse, referring to its shape.
The hippocampus refers to a pair of curved components under the inside of the
temporal lobes. It plays a fundamental role in the formation and retrieval of long-
term memories.
It was learned that the hippocampus is related to memory when a man, called
HM, accidentally had his hippocampus and amygdala removed. He subsequently
lived in a world of short-term memory only. This is an example of knowledge
