• Home Industry Establishments - These comprise specially designated plots for small
enterprises, established formally by the local authorities and located close to the
residential areas. Such plots are usually supplied with several taps for clean water, and
do not have connections to the sewerage, thus providing wide options for the pollution
of the adjacent streams. For this specific study area, the survey identified the major
enterprises established in the home industry plot at Kuwadzana 1. Data with respect to
the different types of enterprises (Table 5.2) was collected during the study, based on
personal communication with the owners and the counting of the different small
enterprises within this specific home industry plot. A typical illustration of such a type
of land use practice is shown in Figure 5.3.
3.2 Methodology
The location of the study area is shown schematically in Figure 5.4, including the
different types of land use patterns. The selection of the sampling points location was
done, based on the different types of areas drained. Point F represents the contribution
from the informal agriculture. Point C is representative of the
