A CKNOWLEDGEMENT
Pumice used in this study was provided by Ebara Corp. (1-6-27, Kohnan, Minato, Tokyo
108-8480) and the “Ecovegetable R ” system, which gave us a chance to study biological
control in hydroponics, is commercially available. The author thanks Dr. Kazunari Masuda
and Mr. Tetsuo Kuroda, as representatives of Ebara Corp., and Mr Tomoo Matsuoka, Ms
Mami Ide and Mr. Takeshi Igawa for their excellent contribution to the study. Fusarium
oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici and Pythium aphanidermatum were kindly gifted by Dr.
Tsutomu Arie and Dr. Motoaki Tojo. This work was supported by a Research project (No.
1765) for utilizing advanced technologies in agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
