In Gobi desert area like Xinjiang, gravel is local material. Owning to proclaim
said by some experts that durability of gravel is not good enough, lots of important
engineering have to excavate the mountain and explode the rock from dozens of
kilometers away to produce aggregate, which not only increase project cost dras-
tically and delay the time limit for a project, but also destroy the environment and
bring heavy burden to poorly stricken areas. Nowadays, demands for protecting
environment is higher and higher, and we should advocate adopting gravel as
aggregate, especially in northwest Gobi desert region.
