Figure 11.8 Stability of NP size (expressed in vol %) distributions in lipid dis-
persions MO/DOPE - PEG 2000 /OA (83/2/15 mol %) and MO/DOPE - PEG 2000 /EPA
(83/2/15 mol %) determined by QELS upon sample dilutions in DMEM culture
medium.
are presented in Figure 11.9. The scattering curves of the aqueous disper-
sions of MO/DOPE - PEG 2000 /EPA (83/2/15 mol %) and MO/DOPE - PEG 2000
(98/2 mol %) self-assembled NP systems show similar structural features and
trends. It can be concluded that the incorporation of 15 mol % of a bioactive
component EPA does not dramatically infl uence the internal organization of
the nanocarriers. The polyunsaturated fatty acid appears to mix homoge-
neously with the main monoglyceride component (MO) in the generated
multicompartment lipid particles.
